This project required that the closet be in the master bedroom space itself. Here a well-designed wall with built-in dressers and an additional wall desk make for a compact yet useful arrangement. The clean and simple forms add a sense of calm and orderliness to the master suite.

Set in a 1900’s Dutch Colonial with soaring ceilings and rich stained floors is a newly minted open-concept kitchen and dining area designed by Majestic Kitchens and Baths in collaboration with our team at KTM Architect. Northeast J.B. Construction, Inc. acted as the general contractor. Smaller rooms were reconfigured to provide for a grand entertaining space, with a spacious kitchen, dining area as well as an adjoining bar and powder room.

The supporting beam shows where the wall had been separating the two areas. Large windows allow light to flood the room and help connect it to the outdoors. The new sight-lines connect the rooms to other adjoining areas.

The refined white cabinetry is complemented by the darker grey island and builtin bar.

The fluted range hood, bespoke cabinets, and finely crafted pulls honor the formal bones of the home while the chevron backsplash pattern in a soft blue subway tile keeps it playful and modern. The quartz countertops feature rich graining.

As is evident in the cabinet surround for the Sub Zero refrigerator, an eye for symmetry and balance guides the design of the space.

The layout provides generous room to navigate between areas, and the large peninsula can accommodate many people and activities.

Adjacent to an informal living area is the pantry, bar and powder room.

The quality of the craftsmanship is evident.

The powder room features an intricate hexagonal design executed in penny tile, as well as a streamlined marble vanity.

The flourishes and details, such as this statement hood give the whole space an air of timeless refinement, but one grounded in a modern sensibility.

New Rochelle basement renovation features laundry room, bathroom, guest room, office space, and play area.

This project was an extensive remodel and updating of a Larchmont Victorian home, which included exterior renovations, four season porch addition, extensive interior renovations and more.

Seen from the street, the home is a shingle style, two story Craftsman. Mature plantings surround the home. The fence on the right provides privacy for an area where the driveway has been re-envisioned as a dining courtyard.

Large pavers in a herringbone pattern helps dress up what had been the driveway, and the surrounding plantings are both elegant and provide privacy. The addition that was made to extend the kitchen and upstairs master bath is the area behind the table where there are two windows.

Here we see how the plants and trees provide the sense of being in a lush European-inspired courtyard.

Passing between the garage and home we enter the second courtyard, a lavish entertaining area anchored by stone fire-pit with built-in seating and a surrounding arbor that provides both visual interest and definition to the space. In the evening glow, the radiance and warmth of the area are evident.

To the left of the fire-pit is a delightful area for the children’s swing set. Simple gravel is used for the low maintenance area.

The quality of the construction is evident throughout, inside and out. The well-proportioned two-story home has a welcoming porch, large windows, and a double garage.

Elements such as the large four-square windows, the exquisite stonework, the simple columns, and details such as copper trim work and elegant corbels convey the craftsmanship of the construction. The gray shingle siding complements the earthy tones of the stone facade and contrasts well with the white trim.

The true heart of this home is the open concept kitchen and living space. Once again we see a masterful interplay of light and dark with contrasting counters and countertops. The expansive room has high ceilings and large windows that bathe the room in light.

Here we see how the foyer connects to the grand kitchen-dining-family room. A front parlor allows for more formal entertaining, while the fireplace provides a cozy area for family interaction. The ceiling detail helps define the family space.

To the left is the gas stove with plenty of working space and storage at hand. The vent cover matches the cabinetry for a unified look.

The banquette area opposite the bar provides a laid back place for family and guests to mingle.

The striping from the window trim elsewhere in the kitchen is carried over to the banquet, helping provide a sense of consistency to the space. Above the banquet we see the vent for the high efficiency heating/cooling system.

The banquette base is done in a white shaker style consistent with the rest of the kitchen, while striped seating adds a punch of color: a great family space for dining, playing cards, or just having a simple chat.

A butcher block top at a lower height provides an area for cutting or baking prep. The luxurious marble counter provides additional prep space. Glass windows in the cabinet help maintain the light feel of this space in which is opposite the pantry walls.

The addition allowed for an upstairs master bath. The vanity with open shelving brings a contemporary edge while the fixtures and classic marble and white combo are a nod to the traditional.

The alcove features a deep and luxurious soaking tub. The windows allow natural light to flood the space, while the glass light adds an elegant touch.

Opposite the bath is the double vanity and storage cabinet which have the feel of freestanding furniture.

The shower has a generous bench, built in niches, and a handheld as well as fixed shower head. The tile is a shimmering blue with green touches, evocative of the sea.

The hall bath was also remodeled. The sea-faring theme continues with the magnificent window as well as the sea-foam colored walls and grey cabinetry.

A well designed double vanity offers a range of storage options. As in the master, it has the feel of a freestanding piece of furniture and blends classic lines wit a contemporary grey color.

Looking over the counter we see the entry to the adjoining laundry area. The lighting adds a touch of glamour to the space.

Entering the laundry area, the custom built-in cabinets maintain the aesthetic of the kitchen providing a sense of continuity as well as additional prep space and storage when needed.

Upper cabinets above the laundry help keep supplies in order but hidden from view.

The well appointed kitchen features a chef-worthy gas stovetop, dual ovens and a built-in refrigerator. An informal eating area as well as the island leave room to spread out yet interact with family.

The hall powder room features dark-stained cabinets with marble tops.

Off the main hallway there is an additional bathroom with walk-in shower and bench seating: this bathroom was built with the needs of an aging parent in mind and is adjacent to a bedroom.

At the end of the central hallway to the right is a large family room that was renovated as part of this project. With a gas fireplace, sliders to a deck and a lovely, tiled hearth, this airy space is made with conversation and entertainment in mind.

The TV is mounted on an adjacent wall so that the fireplace and TV may both be seen from the main sectional.

A marble topped counter sits between two larger built-in cabinets. The streamlined vanity light and modern glass pulls add glamour to the space.

The double vanity and linen cabinet in the bathroom are consistent with the ones in the dressing area. A large marble topped spa bath is to the left and an enclosed shower is just beyond it.

The wide bath top can fit towels and candles, but also allows the bather to sit and swing his or her legs into the bath and vice versa: this safety feature makes entry and exiting much easier.

An informal seating area is adjacent to the island. Closer to the entry is an area for watching TV. Built ins and closets are in keeping with the shaker style of the kitchen.

The island is a central feature to the space and offers functional prep area as well as room for dining and conversation. The Shaker pantry to the right is easily accessible and adds clean-lined storage to the space.

The Wolf range is flanked by marble prep areas and well constructed inset shaker cabinetry. A simple subway tile backsplash lets the cabinetry and range act as focal points.

A counter-depth refrigerator is set with an upper cabinet above, creating an integrated look.

The bar area has open shelving cook books, additional prep space and another sink. A dedicated built in fridge for drinks helps relieve congestion by the main refrigerator. The microwave is set into the cabinets here as well.

Here we glimpse the laundry area that follows after the bar. The wall to the dining room keeps the laundry out of sight.

The half-wall with glass top provides natural light and privacy for the bath area.

A simple but deep soaking tub has been integrated into the shower area.

The shower includes niches to store items unobtrusively as well as a rain head and handheld fixtures.

The niches carry the tile detail from the adjacent wall.

A pocket door maximizes space in both rooms.

The hall bath also has a calming, zen-like feel with clean lines and wood accents.

The tile floor is a natural grey hue that complements the soft blue walls.

The shower and tub has an expansive niche accented by its tile, as well as a large glass door.

To the right there is a desk where one can put on make-up and jewelry and to the left is a walk-in closet. The bathroom is seen center.
